Mariah’s Path to Stability
When Mariah first reached out, she called it “a rough season.” A single mother with a young child, she had been sleeping on couches after a sudden rent increase pushed her out of her apartment. She found Legion of Human Divinity through a flyer that simply said, “We believe divinity exists in each other — and we uplift one another.”
We started by stabilizing her immediate needs: groceries, hygiene essentials, and bus passes so she could make it to appointments and interviews. Together we gathered documents for housing applications, connected her to a family-focused housing program, and helped her update her resume and practice for interviews.
Within weeks, Mariah was offered a stable job and soon after, she received approval for housing. The day she opened the door to her new place, she didn’t say she was “saved” — she said she finally felt seen. Today she’s working, planning, and dreaming again, and she checks in not for help, but to ask how she can give back.
